Sugar Snap peas are one of those great joys of gardening. They are easy to grow ready to harvest quickly and they adapt to the weather well. They may be planted in early spring as early as the soil can be worked and again in the fall .
Seeds should be planted one to one-and-a-half inches deep. It tolerates a light frost when young; and is more tolerant to heat than most others. Snap peas may grow to 6 feet or more, Our family uses PVC pipe for the trellis and hank strings down to have the peas grow upward on the strings.
Peas are high in vitamin A, vitamin C, B vitamins and lutein. These are a must for gardeners since they is nothing like fresh peas. Your in for a sweet surprise.
The beauty is that you can snap these peas and cook.. or you can shell the peas both ways are equally good. Snap peas are very diverse in cooking. Stir fry's, mixed with other veggies, and eaten raw right off the vine.
The best part they are so easy to grow. A fun project with the kiddo's.
